BJP’s mega plan to increase support among Muslims

In the BJP’s national executive recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the party to try to reach out to all communities. After this, the Minority Front of the party has come into action. It has identified 60 Muslim-majority constituencies across the country, where activists will soon begin planning to connect with voters. BJP’s Minority Morcha President Jamal Siddiqui told ET that PM Modi has always said that the party should reach out to all communities. During the national executive, he has specifically mentioned that even if these communities do not vote, we have to reach out to them and explain our policies and our approach.

The minority front of the party is very excited after the message of PM Modi. According to Siddiqui, “We are a political party and we will definitely try to get the votes of the Muslim community towards us.” Now the BJP Minority Morcha will hold a national executive on 1st and 2nd February either in Rajasthan or Chhattisgarh. The idea is to reach out to the educated, small businessmen, Sufis and people from the lower strata of society who are getting benefits of government schemes, such as Pasmanda Muslims, says the party’s Minority Morcha president. After Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, there is not a single Muslim in the Modi cabinet today. Siddiqui said, ‘Maulana Abul Kalam was the first education minister of the independent country and Muslims are the most backward community when it comes to education. More than being a minister of the community, it is more important that a government should be such that it works for everyone.

The plan is also to make people aware of the government’s development agenda and plans through meeting religious and spiritual leaders of the Muslim community. He says, ‘We just want to tell the community that the inclusive ideology of PM Modi is the ideology of the BJP; And people should not pay attention to the statements of petty leaders.

A BJP leader has made a shocking claim that the BJP got more than half the votes of Muslims in the UP assembly elections. He says, ‘We are getting support. In the UP assembly elections, we estimate that around 12% of the Muslims voted for the BJP. The party is going to take out a ‘scooter yatra’ from March in the Muslim-dominated Lok Sabha constituency and also organize ‘Sneh Sammelan’. The 3,00,000 new party members who will join the party in these 60 Lok Sabha constituencies in April or May will be called for a mega rally in Delhi. Siddiqui is trying to send an invitation to PM Modi also for that rally.

'BJP does not want to allow Muslims to become vote-bank'

‘BJP does not want to allow Muslims to become vote-bank’

In fact, the central leadership of the BJP has asked the cadres to show by the example of the benefits of the welfare schemes of the Modi government which have reached Muslims as well, that there is no discrimination at the grassroots level on the basis of religion in this government. Through this, it can also help in dispelling the narrative of alleged intolerance against Muslims. A BJP functionary has said that ‘the fact that the beneficiary of the social welfare schemes has also been a Muslim has exposed the claims of the opposition that the BJP is an anti-Muslim party. For a long time, the opposition has intimidated the BJP and its ideology, due to which the minority community has been voting unitedly against the BJP. The Bharatiya Janata Party is now trying to reach among the Muslims that if this community may not vote for it, but at least stop using their vote as a vote-bank against it. The BJP leader said that ‘they can vote for whichever party they want, but it should not be based on hatred harbored against the BJP’.
