Michael Lynn told that in the year 2017, he joined the OTT platform Netflix company as an engineer. Michael Lynn said, “I started my job at $450,000 a year (about Rs 3.5 crore). Had free food daily, and paid unlimited time. Vacation was available at will. It was like a dream job for me…but within a few years I got bored…so I left the job in 2021.”

‘I thought I’d get a job at Netflix forever…’

Michael Lynn came to Netflix in 2017 after leaving his job at Amazon. Remembering the old days, Michael said, “When I started working, I thought I would always work at Netflix. But little did I know that this job would get so boring for me.” Michael Lynn on LinkedIn first posted about leaving his job in May 2021.

‘My parents thought I had gone mad…’

Michael Lynn said, “When I told my parents about leaving the job, they thought I had gone mad. My parents were the first to object. For them, leaving my job was killing their hard work of living in America.”

‘At times I felt that I was doing something wrong…’

Michael Lynn said, “My teachers also explained to me and said that I should not leave without a second job. He told me that if I go jobless and search for a job, then I will not be able to talk to the company in front for a good salary.

Lin told that for some time he was wondering if he was making the wrong decision after listening to his father and teachers. Lin said he was so over-thinking that it took him three days to ask his manager to leave.

Why did you leave the job with such a hefty package?

Why did you decide to leave a well-paying job? Responding to this question, Lin said that during his early years he learned a lot on the job. He said, “Working at Netflix was like getting paid to work on case studies I learned in an MBA program. He made every memo available for all the staff to read and I learned a lot every day. But in a few years there Everything started to look pale, the brightness started to fade and after the arrival of covid, I am not feeling anything good in my job. There was only work left, and I am not enjoying work anymore.”

‘Was just earning money but not progressing in career…’

Lynn said, “I wanted to make a big impact. For me, engineering is a show of business. So I tried there to be made a product manager. But there was no talk. I spent two years networking within Netflix and applying for product manager positions elsewhere, but to no avail. When I started at Netflix, I was making money and constantly learning new things. Now, I was just earning money, but was not able to progress in my career.

Growing boredom took a toll on Lynn, after which she reviewed her job for the last time in April 2021 and made up her mind to quit. The next month in May 2021, he left the job. Lin feared the move would affect her career and social life, but the opposite happened. He started his own business and claims that he is meeting more people through it. Lin said, I have met more people through starting my own business. I’m happy. It’s been eight months since I left my job at Netflix, and I’ve decided to fully commit to working for myself. Although I am just starting out and I don’t have any reliable source of income yet but I am trying.”
