Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Durgesh Pathak on Saturday called on Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena of ‘misusing his powers’. Pathak said that the Lieutenant Governor should instead contest the election of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
There is a tussle going on between the AAP-led Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor over many issues. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had openly attacked Saxena for the first time. He had accused the Lieutenant Governor of obstructing the programs and schemes of the ‘AAP’ government.
Pathak said, “Since there has been a change in the MCD and now there are 250 wards. So we also have a proposal. We want Lt Governor VK Saxena to contest the upcoming MCD elections in Delhi.” “The Lt Governor is misusing his powers in the national capital. Let’s see, whether people support him or not,” he said. Polling in the MCD polls will be held on December 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 7.
