Chandigarh. The Congress is working hard for the Azampur by-election. Congress party does not want to leave any stone unturned to win. For the by-election to be held on Adampur assembly seat, the Congress has started searching for a suitable candidate. The party will conduct a light survey so that strong candidates can be fielded. Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while talking to reporters on Tuesday, alleged that the government is continuously ignoring the issue of Shamlat land.
Hooda said that since the Supreme Court’s decision, the Congress has been demanding amendment in the Land Act to protect the rights of farmers. Farmers are protesting on the streets, but no one is listening to them. By convening a special session of the Legislative Assembly, changes should be made in the Village Shamlat Land Consolidation Act so that the ownership of the land of the farmers remains intact.
Hooda said that the arrival of paddy has started in the mandis, so instead of October 1, the government procurement should start from September 20. Farmers have suffered huge losses due to ban on export of paddy and imposition of 20 per cent duty. Due to this, the farmers of the country will not be able to get the benefit of high prices of paddy in the international market.
Regarding the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, the former Chief Minister said that it is getting tremendous support. Public relations is the most important thing in politics. Rahul Gandhi is doing the same through Bharat Jodo Yatra. India Jodo Yatra will be warmly welcomed in Haryana. The yatra will remain in Haryana for about 12 days. During this a big public meeting will also be organized in the state.
