The central government has given exemption from the corona protocol for air passengers. Civil Aviation and Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said this. Scindia said that after the relaxation of the Corona rules, people will now have more convenience in travel. They will be able to wear or take off the mask as per their wish. Along with this, he appealed to eliminate the disparity of VAT on ATF in states on expensive fare.

He also said that he himself monitors the problems of air passengers. All difficulties are being resolved expeditiously. During this, he said that the Kovid protocols are over, but vigilance should always be there. We have abolished the necessity of masks. Now people can wear or remove masks as per their wish. Now there will be no need to fill the air facility form and also the vaccine certificate. This will obviously provide convenience to the passengers.

He said that looking into the cases of corona comes under the purview of the Ministry of Health, but I believe that its capacity is very low considering the figures at the country and international level. However, caution should be exercised by all. Scindia told the media that preparations for Udaan 4.2 are underway. About 120 new routes are being launched, of which 18 per cent will be in the North East states. Under this, efforts are being made to primarily increase the traffic between Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities. In this, priority has also been given to small planes and helicopters will also be promoted. It is our endeavor to maintain connectivity of air services till the last mile.

He said that the fare keeps on changing according to the demand and supply. There are some months in aviation in which the demand is high.
If it stays then the fare is high during the peak season. Said that aviation services need to be looked at from a long term perspective. When I came, VAT on ATF was in the range of 1-4 per cent in 12 states. There were 24 states where it was 20-30 per cent. Now after our discussion with the states, there are now 16 out of 24 states which have reduced VAT on ATF and it has come down to 1-4 per cent. However, VAT is still high in 8 states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar, Goa, Assam, Rajasthan.

I appeal to these states to be helpful in reducing VAT and providing cheaper air tickets to the customers. The reduction in VAT may reduce the profit on ATF to the government, but the purchase of ATF from the states will increase. Refueling in Srinagar increased by 360% within a week after the reduction in ATF in Srinagar.
