Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday laid the foundation stone of Rs 986 crore medical college and other development works. He unveiled the plaques for the Rs 470-crore Yeleru and Tandav Canal Link Project, the Rs 500-crore Government Medical College at Narsipatnam to be built on 52.15 acres and the Rs 16.60-crore Narsipatnam Highway widening work.

The new Medical College has 100 seats and the affiliated Nursing College has the same number of seats. The Medical and Nursing Colleges will cater to the growing health and medical needs of Narsipatnam and surrounding areas.
“People who used to go to Visakhapatnam for medical treatment during TDP rule will get a big relief after the completion of the medical college with a capacity of 630 beds,” he said. Development of Narsipatnam and its surrounding areas. Jagan urged the people to visualize the development of the region with the establishment of medical colleges at Narsipatnam, Paderu, Parvathipuram and Vizianagaram.
With the execution of the Yeleru-Tandav canal link project, an ayacut of 51,465 acres under the Tandav canal will be stabilized, while a new ayacut of 5,600 acres under the left canal of Yeleru will receive irrigation water. The state government is spending Rs 470 crore on the project. He said that the project would benefit farmers of several mandals of Narsipatnam and Kakinada.
Announcing that a tribal university would also be set up in the region soon, Jagan said he was proud to have initiated several development projects in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister hoped that he would be able to take up more development projects in future with the cooperation of the people and by the grace of God.
