The state government has decided to merge all the schools owned by the municipality with the education department. Through this process all the teachers will come under the education department. For this, the government has directed the concerned municipalities and city councils to take a resolution. The government is merging the schools under the education department.

Recently, Minister Audimulpu Suresh assured the teachers’ unions that there is currently no plan to bring municipal schools under the Department of School Education. It has now come to the fore that some municipal commissioners were allowed to merge even before the resolutions in that regard were passed by the councils. As Kakinada Municipal Council reportedly accepted a proposal to bring municipal schools under the purview of the School Education Department, it has opposed the proposed transfer of property.
