Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a review meeting of senior health department officials on Friday that the increased number of medical procedures under the YSR Arogyasree scheme would be implemented from October 15 due to some technical reasons. The Chief Minister had announced in the recently concluded assembly session that the procedures would be increased to 3,254 from the existing 2,446 and they would be provided from October 5. Jagan told the officials that the expenditure on Arogya Shri has now become three times as compared to the tenure of the previous government.

It is planned to start 432 new 104 mobile medical units by December. With the addition of new vehicles, the number of 108 ambulances will increase to 1,108. Giving details of the expenditure, he disclosed that the government has invested Rs 2,500 crore for Aarogyasri and Rs 300 crore for Aarogya Aasara to add more procedures. Apart from this, Rs 400 crore was spent on 104 and 108 vehicles.

Briefing the Chief Minister, the officials said that apart from Kovid-19 kits, 12 types of diagnostic kits and 67 types of medicines have been made available in the clinics of the village. Jagan urged them to conduct monthly audits and report the same to the higher authorities to ensure adequate staffing in the hospitals. Increase patient diet fee: The chief minister directed officials to immediately fill up any vacancy should be a continuous process, Jagan said, while asking them to consider setting up a medical recruitment board. He also directed the officials to increase the diet fee of the patient to 100 per day. He said that construction of new medical colleges and work on urban health clinics should be completed by November.

Highlighting the state’s strong healthcare system, officials said that Andhra Pradesh has bagged six out of 10 Ayushman Excellence Awards (awards) given by the Centre. Medical and Health Minister Vidadala Rajani, Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma, Medical and Health Principal Secretary MT Krishna Babu, Principal Secretary (Covid Management and Immunization), M Ravichandra, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner J Niwas, Finance Secretary N Gulzar etc. were present.
