In 2020, IIT relaxed the rules of admission
In the year 2020, IIT had removed the 12th marks from the admission criteria due to Corona virus infection. Accordingly, students were allowed admission only after securing passing marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Languages and other subjects. This decision was taken because the board examinations were affected due to Corona. But now that life is becoming normal due to Corona, the old rule is being restored again.
This rule was before the Corona period
Before the Corona epidemic, candidates of general category in JEE (Advanced) had to score at least 75 percent marks in class 12th. Whereas, students were allowed to appear in the entrance exam even if they were in the top 20 percentile of their board results. At the same time, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) were required to score 65 percentile. Let us tell you that JEE Advanced is counted among the toughest examinations in the country. Every year lakhs of candidates appear in this examination from different states of the country. But only a few candidates get selected.
