‘Season of Culture’ launched on 75th anniversary of Independence
The ‘Season of Culture’ was officially launched on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. It was launched by Britain’s Deputy High Commissioner to India John Thomson and British Council Director (India) Barbara Wickham. AR Rahman was nominated as the ambassador of the ‘India-UK Together Season of Culture’ on the occasion.

‘Season of Culture’ will work for budding artists
The ‘Season of Culture’ aims to strengthen ties between India and the United Kingdom in the arts, English and education. Along with this, a positive platform has to be provided to the budding artists. Along with this is to promote cooperation for them.

AR Rahman’s reaction
Music composer AR Rahman on being appointed as the ambassador of ‘India-UK Together Season of Culture’ said that as an artiste, it is a pleasure to be a part of an innovative cultural programme. It supports creativity, appreciation of art while simultaneously bringing together different groups of audiences.

Artists will get a chance
British Council Director (India) Barbara Wickham said AR Rahman is an important consultant for the season of culture. His work and professional journey truly epitomizes the cultural season. It is extremely important for art and imagination to work together. The ‘India-UK Together Season of Culture’ will give UK and Indian artists an opportunity to have a different experience at work.

Important Season of Culture for Artists
The ‘India-UK Together Season of Culture’ features over 1,400 artists from India, UK, Scotland, Wales and other countries across a wide range of arts, including theatre, dance, visual arts, literature, music, architecture, design, fashion, technology. Will perform in front of millions of spectators from Northern Ireland. Through this, a strong platform of artists will be created at the global level. In India, the responsibility of this has been given to Fesam composer AR Rahman.
