Army’s strength will increase, Defense Ministry approves arms purchase of 76,390 crores

New Delhi, June 6:
The Defense Ministry has approved the purchase of arms and military equipment worth Rs 76,390 crore. The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday approved a proposal (AON) to purchase arms worth Rs 76,390 crore for the armed forces. The procurement will be done under the Made and Developed in India category. The government has said that this will benefit the Indian defense industry and will also strengthen the campaign of self-reliant India.
Defense Official said that DAAC has approved the purchase of Rough Terrain Fork Lift Truck, Bridge Laying Wheel Tank, Anti-Tank Guided Missiles and Armored Combat Vehicle with Weapon Detection Radar for the Indian Army. . DAC has approved the procurement of Next Generation Corvettes (NGCs) for the Indian Navy at a cost of about Rs 36000 crores. Apart from this, manufacturing of Dornier aircraft and Sukhoi-30MKI aircraft has also been approved on need basis.
