Bhanupratappur by-election: Savitri Mandvi becomes Congress candidate, there will be close fight with Bramhanand Netam

Savitri Mandvi’s name was already decided, Congress will play emotional card

The bugle has been sounded regarding the Bhanupratappur assembly by-election. It was clear almost from the beginning that the Congress would declare Savitri Mandavi, wife of late MLA Manoj Mandavi, as its candidate. Savitri Mandavi had given an application for release from her government job only after the election date was fixed.

In fact, before the 2023 assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the by-election on the Bhanupratappur assembly seat is being seen as a semi-final. This seat was with Congress, but now BJP is working hard to get it. The Central Election Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party has given ticket to Brahmanand Netam from Bhanupratappur after a lot of brainstorming.

Here BJP has made Brahmanand Netam its candidate. In the year 2008, BJP leader Bramhanand Netam has been MLA from Bhanupratappur. He had also defeated late Congress MLA Manoj Mandavi once. Due to his good penetration in tribal organizations, BJP has given ticket to Netam to capitalize on the issue of tribal reservation. Significantly, a panel of 4 names including Netam was recently sent to the Central Committee of the BJP. State President of the party, Arun Saw told that we had received proposals of 17 names willing to contest the elections, out of which, after sorting, the last 5 names were sent to Delhi, in which Bramhanand Netam has been spread.

Bhanupratappur election is becoming very special for all political parties. By winning the elections, Congress would like to show that even after completing 4 years of tenure in the state, the people’s world is still on it, while the same BJP would like to win by any means, because it would be a sign of its return. However, in this election, Congress will try to garner sympathy votes in the name of late MLA Manoj Mandavi.
