Sasmit Patra said that if the Narendra Modi government does not provide the required number of houses, then the state government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will itself give their houses to the poor people.
Biju Janata Dal spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra today lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party for its step-motherly attitude towards Odisha in the allotment of PMAY rural houses. Sasmit has alleged that the Center is deliberately not providing the required number of houses to the state. He said that a large number of beneficiaries have been left out of the list of PMAY houses. Odisha needs about 15 lakh houses, but only 8 lakh houses have been sanctioned.
Speaking at the press conference along with Srimayi Mishra, Sasmit said that if the Narendra Modi government does not give the required number of houses, the state government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will itself give their houses to the poor people. He said that BJP MPs are only shedding crocodile tears, they are just doing drama, if they are really concerned about the poor people of Odisha, they should go to the central government and ask them to change the guidelines , so that the poor can get houses.
Sasmit Patra also said that if there are ineligible beneficiaries in the list, BJP leaders can go to the central government to recommend the names and prepare the list. He said that BJP members created hurdles and stopped the approval of houses in Odisha. This is a dark phase in the political history of Odisha. This is a conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He alleged that the Center is also trying to stop this scheme for the poor.
