Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha today asked the BJP to stop playing politics over the appointment of Manoj Kumar Mishra as Principal Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology Department.
Mishra, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, had earlier resigned from the All India Service. Later, he was appointed on contract basis by the State Government. However, the BJP and the Congress are constantly attacking the state government over Mishra’s contractual appointment.
BJD spokesperson Gautam Budh Das asked, “He has been working as IT secretary for a long time and has helped the government in bringing top IT firms to the state and providing employment opportunities to the youth of Odisha.” At that time the state BJP never mentioned any issue. After his re-appointment, why is the BJP now afraid of him?
Das further said, “Many appointments of officers are made by the central government, but the BJD has never talked about them as it is an administrative matter.” It is surprising to see the BJP so nervous and scared over the appointment of an officer by the government. Why are they so scared? BJP should stop targeting government officials and doing politics on appointments of officials and instead do politics on Odisha’s development issues which should be their priority.
