Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao has termed the formation of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Cherikala (Entry) Committee as an attempt to divide the opposition parties through intimidation. Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the bus stand and marketing godown at Dubbaka on Friday, the minister said people would join political parties if the party could do something better for the society. The minister, however, said that the BJP-led Center has done nothing for the society in the last eight years.
Stating that the BJP came to power promising to create crores of jobs, Rao said the Center has failed to deliver on its promises. He said the BJP was trying to use cows, the Indian Army, temples and religion for political gains. Asserting that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the people of Telangana would respect the cow, the minister said they would never use them for political gains like the BJP. He demanded the BJP-led Center to explain what it has done for the common people during the last eight years.
Rao has explained in detail how the Center duped people by promising to open Jan Dhan bank accounts and deposit Rs 15 lakh in these accounts. Stating that the Center had promised to double farmers’ income, Rao said they never made any effort in that direction except by putting farmers in distress with various anti-farmer initiatives. Unlike the Centre, the minister said that they are giving Rythu Bandhu, 24X7 electricity power supply and many other initiatives for the benefit of the farming fraternity.
