Budget 2023 was very important for the Defense Ministry in terms of infrastructure projects. The Defense Ministry said that increasing the quantum of allocation will help the government to complete the project faster. The Defense Ministry is committed to strengthen the infrastructure in the northern borders, the government said. Accordingly, the capital budget of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has been increased by 43% to Rs 5,000 crore in the financial year 2023-24.

The Defense Ministry said that the budget of BRO in the financial year 2022-23 was Rs 3,500 crore. The government said, the allocation under this section has doubled in two years from the financial year 2021-22. This will give a boost to border infrastructure. Strategically important assets like Sela tunnel, Nechiphu tunnel and Sela-Chhabarela tunnel will be built and border connectivity will also increase.
