Raipur, 18 September. Under the National Child Health Programme, one lakh 76 thousand children of Chhattisgarh have been treated through ‘Chirayu’ scheme. Under this, 3081 children suffering from various heart diseases, 603 with deformities of lip and palate, 670 with clubfoot and 334 children with congenital cataract have been treated under this since December 18, 2018. So far 21 thousand 96 children have been treated in this financial year 2022-23 under ‘Viva’ scheme.


There are 330 Viva Dals working across the state for the care of child health. They go to schools and Anganwadis across Chhattisgarh, check the health of children, identify their physical deficiencies and diseases and arrange for free treatment. These children are also identified and registered under Viva Yojana through Mitanin and ANM. . After conducting high level examination of these children by Viva team, the operation is done in the contracted hospitals.

National Child Health Program is operating in Chhattisgarh since 2014. The objective of the program is early detection of Four-D (4D) i.e. Defect at Birth, Disease, Deficiency and Development Delays including Disability in children in the age group of zero to 18 years. To provide treatment. Under this, 44 types of diseases are diagnosed and treated in children. Referrals are also made to higher institutions when needed. Under the ‘Viva’ scheme, health check-up of newborn babies from birth to six weeks of age by the staff at the delivery point, children between the age of six weeks to six years in Anganwadi centers and children between the age of six to 18 years in government and Health check-up is done by Viva teams in aided schools.
