Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel along with former Union Minister Shailja Kumari reached Kalpataru Rural Industrial Park in Serikhedi, capital Raipur on Friday. He observed Bakery Unit, Sewing Unit, Nursery, CMTC, Solar Dryer, Solar Cold Storage, Herbal Gulal, Chalk, Phenyl, Soap and Mixture Unit operated by women groups there. Chief Minister Baghel discussed with the women of self-help groups working there and inquired about the changes in their lives. He also took selfies with the women on their insistence. Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahria was also present on the occasion.

The women working in the bakery unit told the Chief Minister that their group is making biscuits and cookies from Kodo Kutki and Ragi. Chief Minister Baghel and Shailja Kumari tasted the biscuits made from Kodo and appreciated the taste of the cookies. Appreciating the livelihood oriented work of women, he also congratulated them. Ishwari Dahria, who works in the sewing machine unit, told that her group is engaged in manufacturing clothes. He demanded from the Chief Minister the necessary machine for stitching T-shirts. He told that his group had received some orders for preparing clothes with interlock stitching, but due to non-availability of machines, we could not do this work. Ishwari told them that the women working in this unit earn Rs 7,000 a month.

During the discussion, Ishwari demanded 20 big sewing machines and interlock machines from the Chief Minister and said that this would help us a lot. On being asked about the price of the machine by the Chief Minister, he told that the big sewing machine costs Rs 28,000 and the interlock machine costs Rs 80,000. On the spot, the Chief Minister announced to give 20 big sewing machines and interlock machines for this center. The women expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for this. Agreeing on this, the Chief Minister directed Additional Chief Secretary Subrata Sahu.

More than 16 thousand women trained in Ripa’s training center

Yamuna Dhruv of Nursery Construction Unit told that she has been working here for the last five years. In this unit, women prepare small plants and sell them to private nurseries, earning five to six thousand per month. The chairperson of CMTC unit, a training center run by Lakshya Mahila Sangathan, said that so far 195 training sessions have been conducted here, through which 16 thousand 6 hundred women were trained in various income generating activities. So far, an income of Rs 1 crore 20 lakh has been generated from the training work. In which women have got benefit of Rs 30 lakh. 40 trainers give training here. The women told that during the residential training, good arrangements are made for the stay and food of the women. Chief Minister Baghel inspected the solar cold storage unit set up to preserve button mushrooms and inquired about its working style.

On reaching the Anganwadi center established for the care and nutrition of the children of women working in Ripa, the innocent children of the Anganwadi center welcomed the guests by presenting flowers. The women welcomed the guests by applying tilak and told that women work here from 9 am to 5 pm. During this, their children are also provided basic education and nutritious food in Anganwadi.

During the inspection of the mixer unit, the Chief Minister and Shailaja Kumari inquired about the process of Navkaleva rice chips being prepared by the women. On the request of the ladies, the guests also tasted rice chips. Lemon grass flower petals, mushroom, turmeric etc. are dried in the solar dryer installed in this centre. Tikeshwari Yadav, working in the chalk manufacturing unit, told the Chief Minister that she earns Rs.6000 per month by working here. She is a first year MA student at Durga College in the capital. By joining RIPA, she is able to complete her studies uninterruptedly. Along with this, he has also bought a scooty for himself.

Women’s group earned Rs 5 lakh by selling soap

Momin Dhivar, associated with the soap manufacturing unit, presented soap as a gift to the Chief Minister and the guests. He told that so far his group has earned an income of Rs 5 lakh. Dhivar said that the Rural Industrial Park has brought a new revolution in the lives of women. Due to this, women have become financially empowered and their self-confidence has also increased. During the observation of Handloom Loom Unit and Tattoo Art Unit, the women welcomed the guests by presenting them with the state gamchha prepared in this unit. Appreciating the work of women, Chief Minister Baghel congratulated them and also wished them a bright future. He also posed for selfies with the women of the group on their insistence. The women of the group presented a basket of products made in Ripa to the Chief Minister and the guests.
