Supreme Court, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has given a big statement on Friday regarding the strict dress code fixed for the lawyers. He said the strict dress code for lawyers in summer in India should be reconsidered. Along with this, the CJI said that all 13 benches of the Supreme Court will hear at least 10 bail petitions daily, before which 10 transfer petitions will also be heard.
Speaking on the eve of Constitution Day, CJI DY Chandrachud said that the legal profession should shun its colonial foundations, regarding the current dress code of courtroom lawyers. There should be no moral surveillance of women lawyers regarding dress.
The CJI said that around 3000 transfer petitions are pending in the Supreme Court. At present, 13 benches are running in the Supreme Court. In such a situation, efforts will be made to dispose of 130 transfer petitions daily before the winter break. CJI Chandrachud said that the Supreme Court wanted to ensure that bail matters are listed and disposed of in an expeditious manner.

During the program, the judge said that the functioning of the constitution depends on how the judiciary is working in the district. When we celebrate the constitution, we should know about the history before the adoption of the constitution. He also responded to the criticisms of the collegium. CJI DY Chandrachud said that no institution in a democracy is perfect but we work within the existing framework of the Constitution as it is interpreted.
