Hyderabad, November 7- Darabad: This was a call that the people of Munugode heard wholeheartedly. Even as the campaign turned tense as it went into the final lap and looking like it could go either way, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao reached Munugod on 30 October. And the tide turned. He had all guns blazing against the Bharatiya Janata Party, citing the covert operation of the BJP, declaring that the self-respect of the people of Telangana was not for sale. But the speech was not all fire. It also saw the Chief Minister becoming indifferent, recalling how he had started his mission to get Telangana state separate from Siddipet with the support of the people there.

Now it was time for another mission, to take up the Telangana model of development across the country, he said, adding that the people of Munugode were on the verge of making history by helping launch the Bharat Rashtra Samiti in the Indian political arena. With a winning start. And on Sunday, Munugode’s results showed that people had taken up his call with utmost sincerity, and apart from a stellar start by the BRS, also set the tone for a hat-trick for the party in the assembly. After the victories of Nagarjuna Sagar and Munugode, victory in the 2023 assembly elections now appears more likely for the TRS. Munugode’s victory showed that the people continued to trust Chandrashekhar Rao, with no reduction in the party’s vote share since 2014.

In Munugode, for example, from the 37.59 percent K Prabhakar Reddy had voted in 2018, the vote share has now gone up to nearly 43 percent. Political analysts say that a strong pro-cadre, strong candidates with good public, coupled with aggressive leadership, is helping the party move towards 2023. There have been some issues in some seats, but if local leaders and candidates manage to plug those minor loopholes, the party, which by then would have completely flown in its Bharat Rashtra Samithi avatar, could lose two more seats. Can consider more seats – third majority in the next assembly also.
