CM KCR to launch second phase of ‘Kanti Velugu’ in Khammam on January 18

The first phase of Kanti Velugu was organized in eight months, but we intend to complete the second phase in 100 working days.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the second phase of Kanti Velugu in Khammam on January 18 at 1 pm. This Rs 200 crore initiative will see massive eye check-up camps across Telangana and cover 1.50 crore people. In this process 55 lakh free spectacles and medicines will be distributed to the beneficiaries.
Health Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday said eye check-up camps would formally begin in all districts after the Chief Minister launched the initiative in Khammam. In a review meeting here on Thursday, he directed the district collectors to ensure arrangements for the smooth functioning of 16,533 Kanti Velugu camps to be held at different places.
Harish Rao said, “Medical equipment required for the camps, reading glasses and medicines to be distributed to the eligible beneficiaries will reach the camps by Friday.” Awareness campaigns on the need to participate in eye check-up camps should be carried out on a large scale at the local level.
