A meeting of the Sugarcane Price Review Committee was held at Haryana Niwas under the chairmanship of Agriculture Minister JP Dalal on Tuesday.
Haryana government has decided to increase the rate of sugarcane today. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Ka said that the farmers have demanded the government to increase the sugarcane rate, but the sugarcane mills are in huge losses and our rate is much higher than many other states. Still, we have increased it by Rs 10 more. Next year we will increase the rate of sugarcane. Farmers will not be allowed to be disappointed. Right now we have increased the price of sugarcane by Rs 10 and the problem of e-tendering of Sarpanchs will also be solved soon.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that this year the rate of sugarcane will be Rs.372, which was Rs.362 last year. He said that the rate of sugarcane will be increased next year as well. The Chief Minister appealed to the sugarcane farmers to take their sugarcane to the mills so that the mills could start functioning from tomorrow. He said that the mustard crop has suffered damage due to cold. That’s why its regular Girdawari will be done from 5th. He said that no farmer will be allowed to be harmed.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal reached the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Jayanti celebrations in Jat Dharamshala, along with former Union Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, Lok Sabha MP Nayab Saini, Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha were also present. At Pipli in Kurukshetra, Chief Minister Manohar Lal first met the Brahmin community and then met all the organizations.
Farmers unhappy with the increase of Rs 10 per quintal
Farmers demonstrated against the government for the increase in the price of sugarcane in Sonipat. A tractor march was taken out from the Sugar Mill on Kami Road in Sonepat to the main squares of the city. The farmers took out a tractor march along with the funeral procession of the Chief Minister’s effigy. Farmers were unhappy with the increase of Rs 10 per quintal by the government. Along with other social and employee organizations, the farmers are now getting the support of the sarpanches as well. Farmers made allegations against the government of anti-promise. The farmers are adamant on the demand of Rs 450 per quintal sugarcane price. The farmers said that till the time the government does not accept the demands, they will keep the sugar mill closed with protest.
