Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Pope Francis in Vatican City on Wednesday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is leading a high-level delegation on his 10-day foreign tour. This is the first time that the Chief Minister of a state in India is meeting the head of the Catholic Church. However, this meeting of Patnaik and Pope Francis is being described as a courtesy call.

This is Naveen’s first foreign visit in the last 10 years and second in more than 22 years as the Chief Minister of Odisha. Naveen Patnaik will speak during his address at the headquarters of the United Nations World Food Program in Rome on the state’s transformational initiatives on agriculture, food security and disaster management. Along with this, he will also hold meetings with overseas Indians in Europe.
Will interact with Odia people in Dubai
On his return, Naveen Patnaik will stop in Dubai on June 29 for an investor meet, which is being jointly organized by the Odisha government and FICCI. Along with this, Naveen Patnaik will also interact with Odia people settled in Dubai and will participate in some cultural programs. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik last visited London in 2012.
