Amaravati, November 08- Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the Agriculture Department to ensure remunerative price of paddy this season. Addressing a review meeting on agriculture and allied sectors on Monday, he clarified that he does not want to see any complaint from farmers that they are getting less than the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce. The Civil Supplies Department should coordinate with the Agriculture Department to ensure that farmers sell their produce at MSP, besides focusing on paddy procurement using e-crop data.
He informed that agricultural loans with input subsidy and zero interest will be deposited in the bank accounts of farmers on November 29. Emphasizing on the officials taking paddy procurement as a challenge, Jagan said that it should be ensured that every farmer gets a better price for his produce. Jagan explained that all Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) in the state should be equipped to conduct soil tests by March to help farmers grow suitable crops with minimum investment, which will also help in preventing indiscriminate use of fertilizers. He also directed the officers to ensure that RBKs are equipped with drones while making available agricultural machinery to the farmers through community recruitment centers to reduce the cost of cultivation. He stressed that the students of Agricultural University under YSR Polambadi should be asked to take up apprenticeship practically in the fields as it helps the farmers to acquire the knowledge of modern methods of farming. The officials told him that the rabi crop is expected to be cultivated in 22.92 lakh hectares and steps have been taken to ensure adequate supply of seeds and fertilizers to the farmers. The state has received an average rainfall of 775 mm from June to November and the production of food grains in Kharif season is estimated to be 186 lakh metric tonnes.
