New Delhi, 31st May: BJP MP and former state president of the party Dilip Ghosh has been reprimanded by the central leadership for speaking against a section of party leaders in West Bengal. BJP national general secretary Arun Singh has written a letter to Ghosh in this regard on the instructions of the party’s national president JP Nadda.


The letter dated May 30 said, “While your commitment to the party has been absolute, there have been instances when some of your statements or outrage has caused pain to the party leaders of the state and the central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party.” You were also told by the party leadership on several occasions in the hope that you would look into it.

The letter said, “In a recent interview, your comments on electronic media and perhaps other fora have openly criticized senior functionaries of the state. Such comments will only hurt and harm the party and in the past Moreover, such statements from a person of your stature, the national vice president, can create deep resentment, unrest and alienation among the party ranks, given the norms of political behavior and conduct Unacceptable.The BJP’s national leadership is deeply concerned about issuing such statements through the media.

The letter further read, “On the instructions of National President JP Nadda ji, I would like to convey to you the deep anguish and concern of the party on issuing such statements and advise you to always refer to the media or in any public form. Avoid going to forums, about your own colleagues either in the state of West Bengal or anywhere else. I sincerely hope that you will appreciate the sensitivity of the situation in West Bengal in particular and print, electronic, other media or Always be more discreet in your dealings with any public forum.

Dilip Ghosh was not available for comment on this. However, he told his close aides that he was yet to receive the copy of the letter. Recently, Ghosh had hit out at the party’s new state leadership and called them “inexperienced”. Responding, TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said, “It is their internal matter. But Dilip Ghosh belongs to the old age of the party and we will always have ideological differences with him. However, he has turned against his party and especially against the newcomers. He has spoken the truth and now his party has used bulldozers on him. BJP leaders in Delhi are deciding who will speak and who will not.
