New Delhi, 31 May. AIUDF has condemned the decision of the Assam cabinet to provide minority certificates. AIUDF MLA and party general secretary Aminul Islam said there was no need to give a separate identity by the state government. The constitution has already given minority status to the communities.

Assam minister Keshab Mahanta on Sunday announced the decision to provide minority certificates to people belonging to six religious communities—Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis. The protest started a day after the Assam government’s decision was announced.
The All India United Democratic Front (AIDUF) and Congress criticized the move. AIUDF MLA and party general secretary Aminul Islam called it a ‘divide and rule policy’. He said that the Constitution has already given minority status to the communities. They can be benefited separately but it is not right to give separate identity in this way.

AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam said that this move of the government is an attempt to divide the Muslim community. He said that he is not against it. But the government is trying to divide the Muslim community, which is the method of divide and rule policy of the British and that policy has been adopted by the BJP.
