Doordarshan DG Mayank Kumar gets additional charge of Prasar Bharati CEO

New Delhi, June 10. Mayank Kumar Agarwal, Director General of Doordarshan (DD) and Doordarshan and Doordarshan Samachar has been given the additional charge of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prasar Bharati. Shashi Shekhar Vempati was given the charge after his five-year tenure as Prasar Bharati CEO ended on Wednesday.

Mayank Kumar Agarwal is a 1989 batch IAS officer. Shashi Shekhar Vempati’s five-year tenure as the CEO of Prasar Bharati came to an end on Wednesday. Mr Vempati was appointed as the CEO of the public broadcaster in June 2017 on the recommendation of a three-member committee headed by the then Vice President. Sri Vempati, an IIT-Bombay alumnus, was the youngest and first officer to hold a public office in Doordarshan in 1997.

In an order issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, it has been said that the charge of Agarwal will be effective till a regular CEO takes over.

Vempati gave information about the end of his term through Twitter late on Wednesday night. He made several tweets, in which he thanked Prime Minister Modi for giving him a chance.
