Bhubaneswar. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said that the government is making concerted efforts to develop the state as a global tourist hotspot. Inaugurating the International Crafts Summit in Jajpur through a virtual platform, CM Naveen Patnaik said the state government is committed to develop Odisha as a global tourist attraction, provide livelihood and employment opportunities and make the state an attractive destination for investors. The Chief Minister said that we are developing mechanisms for the overall development of our tourism, handloom and handicrafts sectors. We have made various policies like State Tourism Policy, Handicraft Policy, Apparel and Technical Textile Policy. He further said that the state government is also opening art galleries at various places to promote tourism and culture.

The CM further said that Jajpur was the ancient capital of Odisha. With its existing wealth of religious tourism, urban tourism and Buddhist tourism, it has the potential to become a major tourism hub.

The Chief Minister said that Odisha is a glorious land of impeccable arts and crafts. Its civilizational journey is a journey of artistic culture. The artistic skills of our craftsmen are reflected in many ways. You can find it in our temples, our idols, Buddhist temples, hand woven clothes, paintings, wood works, metal works.. everywhere. Every village, every street displays some form of Odisha art or craft. The soul of Odisha resides in our arts, crafts, music and culture.

As per reports, international delegates from 15 countries have reached Jajpur to engage with local artisans and other stakeholders. Four United Nations agencies and five UNESCO Creative Cities have partnered with Jajpur district to make this ambitious and forward looking event a reality on behalf of the state government.
