Expenditure Monitoring Cell constituted
When we buy something, we have to take care of the budget. Our pocket determines our spending limit. In these days, it is the season of urban-body elections in MP. Independent candidates from all the parties are in the fray. If there is an election, there will be an expenditure, but here the election office has fixed the expenditure limit, not the pocket of the candidates. The Expenditure Monitoring Cell constituted by Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Ilaiyaraaja T. has released the Election Account Expenditure Rate List. There are different expenditure limits for mayor and councilor candidates.
35 lakh for mayor, 8 lakh 75 thousand rupees for councilor
Expenditure Monitoring Cell of the Election Office has fixed the expenditure limit for the election expenses of the candidates. In Jabalpur, the candidate contesting for the post of mayor has a maximum expenditure limit of Rs 35 lakh and for councilor candidate Rs 8 lakh 75 thousand. The Election Commission has a strict watch on every activity related to election campaign from home to office. Expenditure monitoring cell will have to be handed over to the expenditure monitoring cell, from the smallest flag used in campaigning to tents and awnings, to the workers and supporters.
8/- samosa-aloobanda, 550/- VIP thali
Party workers and supporters also accompany the candidate during the election campaign. Many people leave home hungry and thirsty to preach. From tea-snack to their stay and accommodation, the candidate has to make arrangements at his own expense. In such a situation, different rates of different breakfast items are fixed during the promotion. In the campaign, if someone ate one piece of samosa or aloobanda, then 8 or 4 four puri-vegetables would be added to the expenditure account at the rate of Rs 35/-. Whether tents are set up, carpets are laid or if there is a need for rugs and pillows, then the calculation of everything will be included in the cost. At some place, if the mic with a stand does not suit Netaji and there will be a cordless mic, then its rate is fixed four times more than the normal mic.
Expenses to be given from time to time
The special thing is that the candidates will have to give information about their expenses from time to time to the election department. According to the instructions of the Election Commission, it is mandatory for every candidate to give the desired information to the Authorized Expenditure Observer. If a candidate does not provide election expenditure related information within the stipulated time despite getting the information, then this act will be considered as a serious offence. According to the rules of the commission, action can be taken against such a candidate under section 171-1 of the IPC.
