Due to this, England needed 279 runs to win in the fourth innings, which they easily achieved after a poor start. England’s team lost their four wickets on 69 runs, after which Joe Root (115 not out) took the innings with captain Ben Stokes (54) and shared 90 runs for the fifth wicket. Jamieson gave his team the 5th success but Joe Root put on an unbeaten 120-run partnership with Ben Fox (32) and gave his team a 5-wicket victory.

Alastair Cook took 10 years 87 days to achieve this record while Joe Root took 9 years and 175 days to achieve this feat. Although both the players have achieved this feat on the same day of their age. Both Alastair Cook and Joe Root have achieved this feat at the age of 31 years 157 days.
