Google cancels Dalit activist’s event, senior manager resigns in protest

New Delhi, June 4: Google canceled an event on Cast. Activist Thenmozhi Soundararajan was going to speak on the issue of caste in this program. Google had kept this program in its office in the month of April. It has been told that the event was canceled due to pressure from the employees. The employees had put pressure on the company not to organize the event, calling them anti-Hindu. The Washington Post has disclosed this in one of its reports. At the same time, Google’s senior manager Tanuja Gupta has resigned in protest against the cancellation of the program.

The Washington Post, in its disclosing report, has said that Google had organized a program in its office in the month of April to call activist Thenmozhi Soundararajan on the topic of ‘caste’. Soundararajan is the founder of Equality Labs in California and has been vocal on the oppression of Dalits. It is reported that Google employees sent mails to the company describing employee Soundararajan as ‘anti-Hindu’ and ‘Hinduphobic’, after which the company canceled his program.

Thenmozhi said in his statement regarding this, I have no words to say how discriminatory Google’s action was towards its employees and me. The company had wrongly canceled the event on caste equality.

Senior Manager Resignation

Soundararajan, who was invited by Google News senior manager Tanuja Gupta to interact with Google employees on the cast, has resigned after the event was cancelled.

Google is also being accused of working under the pressure of upper castes regarding this matter. Regarding this, a statement has been issued by Google saying that caste discrimination has no place in our workplace. Such allegations are false.
