Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Sarpanch Harjit Singh Gullu, Village Matran, S.A.S. A case of bribery has been registered against the city. Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that a case has been registered against the said sarpanch by Sarabjit Kaur, a resident of Baroli village under Derabassi police station, on the complaint of the Chief Minister on the anti-corruption helpline number.
He said that during the investigation of this complaint and examination of the evidence presented in this regard, it was found that the said Sarpanch had asked the complainant to S.A.S. In a complaint under investigation at the Sohana police station in the city, Rs 10,000 is to be paid as a bribe to a police employee to get justice in the case.
The spokesman further said that during investigation the allegations were found to be true and a case of corruption has been registered against the said Sarpanch by Vigilance Bureau flying squad. Further investigation of the matter was on.
