Indian-origin German national Gurdeep Singh Randhawa has been elected to the party presidium of a political party in Germany. Randhawa has been appointed to the Thuringia State Christian Democratic Union state unit. Asian Light International reported that this is the first time that a German citizen of Indian origin has been appointed by the CDU to the State Presidium in Germany.

The Christian Democratic Union is a political party in Germany. This party, which believes in right-wing ideology, is currently the second largest party in Germany. Friedrich Merz is the federal chairman of the CDU from 31 January 2022. Earlier in August, Gurdeep Singh Randhawa was elected as the first representative of the Indian community in Germany. As the representative of the Indian community, Randhawa’s job was to make the problems and concerns of the Indian community known. After being appointed as the first representative of the Indian community in Germany in August, Gurdeep Singh Randhawa said, “It is important for me that there is real solidarity in the society. I would like to bring new impulses and new ideas to the political level with their support.”
