A delegation of student organization INSO met Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh on Thursday and handed over a memorandum to him on various issues related to the students of the state. INSO National President Pradeep Deshwal said that INSO, through his memorandum, apprised the Governor about many important topics like reinstatement of student union elections, online display of educational qualifications of Vice Chancellors of universities, falling education level.
Pradeep Deshwal said that INSO has demanded the Governor to conduct student union elections through direct election system by restoring student union elections in universities and colleges of the state. He said that INSO has also demanded that the educational qualifications and documents of the Vice Chancellors and Registrars serving in the universities of the state should be publicly displayed on the website of the respective university so that the students and research scholars there can get the academic status of their Vice Chancellor, Registrar. INSO National President said that INSO has brought to the notice of the Governor the issue of declining education level in the state and demanded that attention should be paid in this direction and only qualified educationists should be appointed on important posts. Along with this, people with fake degrees, qualifications are sitting on the posts of Vice-Chancellor in the State Council of Higher Education, so immediate action should be taken after getting them investigated so that higher education and research work can be improved.
Deshwal said that a large number of government schools have been closed in Haryana, due to which it is becoming difficult for the children of poor families to study. He said that in this regard, instead of closing down government schools, the shortage of teachers should be met to improve the quality of education there and all basic facilities should be provided in government schools.
