Haryana’s Education and Heritage Minister Kanwar Pal said that the Deputy Commissioner of Sirsa has allotted land for the rehabilitation of the affected persons in two Gram Panchayats of Nathusari Chopta area for the families who were displaced by the Department of Archeology in Sirsa. has been identified. Based on the rehabilitation plan presented by the district administration, the Archaeological Department has also prepared a detailed proposal which is under consideration of the government. This proposal will be brought in the cabinet soon.

Kanwar Pal was speaking in reply to a question asked by MLA Shri Gopal Kanda during the budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. He informed that at present 788 housing board flats have been allotted to these oustees of Thehar in Sector-19 of Sirsa. He informed about the instructions given by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 15, 2017, in the matter of removal of encroachment from protected land under the ‘Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act 1958’.

He told that in these court orders, the government was asked to free the protected site and give an affidavit by making a complete road map including starting the Archaeological Survey of India excavation work. The state government is taking steps in compliance of these orders.
