Ranchi, September 23: The days of scheduled caste, backward class and minority hostels, which are waiting for renovation since the creation of a separate state, have started to fade away. Broken floors, water dripping from the roof in the rain, dilapidated windows and doors, the hostel buildings are now looking in a new form, longing for paint over the years. The tribal hostels are being equipped with modern infrastructure. Out of 593 such hostels, 234 hostels have been given a new look after the order of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
These include 42 Scheduled Tribes, 96 Scheduled Castes, 47 Backward Classes and 92 Minority Hostels. At the same time, the renovation work of 221 hostels is to be completed in two years. Renovation work of 139 hostels is proposed in the financial year 2022-23 and 82 in 2023-24. During the renovation of hostels, the construction work is being done giving priority to the interests of the students.
Now the government will make arrangements for food grains, cooks and security
On the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Departmental Minister Champai Soren, the work of renovating the hostels of the Welfare Department is being done, as well as arrangements are being made to restore the security guards and cooks in the hostels.
The Chief Minister has ordered to fill up the manpower lying vacant at the earliest. At present, a total of 90 security guards and cooks are working. Under the earlier arrangement, the students living in these hostels of the Welfare Department had to carry food grains from their homes. But, now the government will also provide food grains for the students in these hostels. For this, the students will not have to pay any kind of fee.
