Ranchi: The state government will make BPL elders go on pilgrimage after four years. The Department of Tourism, Art, Culture and Sports has decided to organize a pilgrimage for the elderly in February this year under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana. Regarding this, the process of inviting applications from BPL elders has been started.
Apply by January 25
The state government has decided to take Hindu religious elders on pilgrimage to Dwarka and Somnath this year. Similarly, Muslims will be taken on pilgrimage to the holy places of Ajmer Sharif, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri. The government will make travel to pilgrimage sites through trains. To take advantage of this scheme, citizens above 60 years of age have been asked to submit applications to the Deputy Commissioner’s office of their respective districts by January 25.
The plan was closed in Corona
Let us inform that earlier in the year 2019, under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana, which started in 2016, the elders were given darshan of pilgrimage sites. After this, due to Corona, the elderly could not get its benefit. Under this scheme, BPL senior citizens of the state are made to travel to major religious tourist places of the country.
Can avail benefits after every two years
The state government has signed an MoU with IRCTC for this. Under this scheme, there is a provision to visit any BPL elderly once to the pilgrimage sites located in the state of Jharkhand and once to the pilgrimage sites located outside the state of Jharkhand. After taking advantage of this travel scheme once, the benefit of the scheme is available for the second time only after a period of two years.
These places were selected for pilgrimage
The state government has selected Rajrappa, Deoghar, Sammed Shikhar, Basukinath, Maluti, Itkhori under this scheme under Jharkhand state. On the other hand, Dwarka, Somnath, Puri, Tirupati, Madurai, Rameshwaram, Haridwar and Rishikesh, Vaishno Devi, Shirdi, Signapur, Nashik, Ajmer Sharif, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra, Amritsar Golden Temple, Shravanabelagola, for pilgrimage places outside the state of Jharkhand. Goa (Basilica of Bom Jesus) and Velankani Church Nagapattinam have been selected.
