Jabalpur High Court has ordered to nullify the assembly membership of Khargapur MLA Rahul Lodhi, nephew of BJP’s fire brand leader Uma Bharti. After a long hearing, the High Court has ordered to nullify the election of Rahul Singh, who was elected from Khargapur assembly seat in Tikamgarh district. Petitioner Chanda Singh Gaur challenged the documents submitted by him while submitting the election form, stating that they were wrong.

The Jabalpur High Court has nullified the election of Rahul Singh Lodhi, BJP MLA from Khargapur and nephew of Uma Bharti. In the last assembly elections 2018, Rahul Singh was elected from Khargapur Assembly Constituency No. 47 in Tikamgarh district on a BJP ticket. After finding Rahul guilty of corrupt practice, the High Court declared the election void and ordered him to be deprived of all the salary and benefits of the post of MLA.

Returning Officer Vandana Rajput also wrote for action
In its order, the High Court has also ordered action against Vandana Rajput, the returning officer of the then Khargapur assembly elections. The court has asked the government not to impose duty on them in election work in future.

In front of BJP MLA Rahul Lodhi, Congress-backed candidate and former MLA Chanda Singh Gaur’s husband Surendra Singh Gaur had filed an election petition petition 5-2019 in the High Court. The long hearing and all the parties including the Election Commission and Rahul Singh Lodhi were heard. Here the documents submitted by Rahul Singh at the time of election were also examined. On Wednesday evening, the court has issued an order to nullify Rahul’s election. In fact, petitioner Chanda Gaur had complained about hiding information in the nomination form by Rahul Singh in the petition. Rahul was a partner in a firm taking benefits from the government, but he did not give this information in the nomination papers. The High Court had earlier imposed a cast of 10 thousand on Rahul, but that too was not deposited.
