Himanta Biswa Sarma:
The brutal murder of Mumbai girl Shraddha Walker by her boyfriend Aftab in Delhi is reverberating in the Gujarat elections. Assam Chief Minister and BJP’s firebrand leader Himanta Biswa Sarma has on one hand raised the issue of Shraddha murder case and on the other hand he has raised the issue of Uniform Civil Code. Addressing a rally, Sarma, who is in charge of the election campaign in Gujarat, said that if a Hindu does one marriage, then people of other religions will also have to do the same marriage.

Himanta Biswa Sarma

‘Why would you marry so much? If Hindus in the country…’

Voting will be held in two phases on 182 assembly seats in Gujarat. Under the first phase, voting will be held on December 1, while the second phase will be held on December 5, the results of which will be revealed on December 8. In such a situation, before voting, BJP has given all its strength for campaigning. In this episode, the Chief Minister of Assam while addressing a public meeting in Dhansura said that a person marries 2-3 times in the country, why would you do so many marriages. If a Hindu marries once in the country, then people of other religions will also have to marry only once. That’s why I say today that the country needs a uniform civil code law.

He further said that women should be respected. If there is 1 son and 1 daughter in the house, then both should get equal rights. Uniform civil code is needed in the country and only BJP can bring it, not Congress. Let us tell you that like Uttarakhand, BJP has talked about implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the manifesto of the party in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
