In a college of Mangaluru University, students put Savarkar’s photo in class, went viral

Mangaluru, 09 June: In a college affiliated to Mangalore University, students took the V.D. The photo of Savarkar was put on the blackboard of the class without the permission of the college administration. The university college administration became paralyzed after a video of some students posing a picture of Veer Savarkar in a college classroom went viral on social media, which was later removed.

The incident reportedly took place in a college class here on Monday evening and it came to light much later. According to sources, some students brought pictures of Bharat Mata and Savarkar and placed them on the black board and made the photo viral on social media. The matter came to light after a video clip went viral on social media and some students brought the matter to the notice of the professor.

College principal Anasuya Rai said that the college removed the pictures without any permission. The concerned students were warned and have subsequently apologized in writing for violating discipline.

Referring to the matter in a press release on Wednesday, Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress general secretary Ismail B said there was a need to find out who was instigating the college students to indulge in such acts.

He said the incident appears to be an attempt to create a controversy. Action should be taken against such persons behind the scenes and students indulging in such acts. He said Mahatma Gandhi is our idol. The Education Department has issued a circular making it clear whose pictures can be put in educational institutions.
