This time in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, there is a direct contest between the BJP and the Congress on most of the seats. People’s inclination towards the Aam Aadmi Party is decreasing, due to which there is a possibility of a tough fight between both the parties. However, the Left party Marxist Communist Party is trying to reverse the Shimla district. Initially a headache for the BJP, the rebel voting has started proving to be a boon as the voting nears. At the same time, independent candidates are also spoiling the game of both the parties. For the first time, the election is being fought in the absence of Congress leader Virbhadra Singh and BJP leader Prem Kumar Dhumal.

The BJP has fielded many leaders to ensure its victory. BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda himself is camping in Himachal. Along with Nadda, several Union ministers, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath are stationed in Himachal. Due to which the BJP is leading in many ways in the campaign. At the same time, there is a lack of resources with the Congress party. Priyanka Gandhi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel are campaigning for the Congress party. The Congress party, sensing the resentment of the employees against the BJP, has raised the issue of OPS.

Simultaneous elections are being held in 68 assembly constituencies this time in Himachal Pradesh and voting will be held on November 12. According to the Election Commission data, this time 412 candidates are in the fray. Of these, 24 are female and 388 are male candidates. This time 55,92,828 voters will exercise their franchise. All arrangements have been made by the Election Commission for the voting. A total of 7881 polling stations have been set up in the state. Of the total voters, 28,54,945 are male, 27,37,845 female and 38 third gender voters. In this election, 1,93,106 new voters in the age group of 18-19 years have been added. There are 1,21,409 senior voters in the above 80 years age group while 56,501 are disabled voters.

In the upcoming assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress is contesting on all 68 assembly constituencies of the state. While the Aam Aadmi Party has fielded its candidates on 67 seats. Bahujan Samajwadi Party 53, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party 29, Communist Marxist Party 11, Himachal Jan Kranti Party 6, Hindu Samaj Party and Swabhiman Party 3-3, Himachal Janata Party, Bhartiya Veer Dal, Sainik Samaj Party and National Lok Niti 1-1 candidate of the party and the Communist Party of India are candidates in the fray. The number of independent candidates is 99.

There are three candidates in the electoral fray who are billionaires. Among them is a candidate who has his own helicopter. At the same time, most of the candidates are millionaires. Balveer Verma, the sitting BJP MLA from Chaupal, is the owner of 1.25 billionaire’s assets. In the last elections, Verma was the owner of a property worth 90 crores. In 2012, his assets were 41 crores. His wealth continues to grow. Talking about crorepati candidates, most of the crorepatis are from the Congress party. Among whom are the sons of three leaders. Raghuveer Singh Bali, son of GS Bali, who contested from Nagrota Bagwan, is second in terms of assets.

At the same time, Vikramaditya Singh, son of Virbhadra Singh, who was chief minister six times in the state, is also the owner of property worth crores. He had assets worth 84 crores in the last elections. Congress candidate from Chapal Rajneesh Kimta is a crorepati and has his own helicopter. He used his helicopter a lot in his election campaign. Similarly, from Palampur, Ashish Butel, son of former Assembly Speaker BBL Butel, who is an MLA from Palampur and has been re-elected. Rohit Thakur from Jubbal Kotkhai, Rajat Thakur, son of Mahendra Singh, Yadavindra Goma, Indra Dutt Lakhanpal are also millionaires.
