sat on the bench for a long time
Hardik Pandya did not give Umran and Sanju Samson a place in his T20 team at all. Arshdeep Singh has been getting frequent opportunities in T20 in the recent past and his arrival in the 50-over format also shows that India is going to play a long bet with him. Malik and Samson were sitting on the bench for a long time and now they have got a chance in the playing XI for which the fans are happy. Deepak Hooda, Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Yadav have been kept out of this playing XI. Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan are the opening pair and they have got a very good start in this match.

This selection was good for fans
Both batsmen added 124 runs for the first wicket, completing their half-centuries. While Gill was dismissed by Lockie Ferguson after playing an innings of 50 runs in 65 balls, Shikhar Dhawan played an inning of 72 runs in 77 balls and was run by Tim Southee. Rishabh Pant, who was struggling with poor form, also got a chance in this playing XI and scored only 15 runs in 23 balls. Suryakumar Yadav, the emperor of T20 cricket, went on to score 4 runs in 3 balls. Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar have been kept as the two all-round options in this team while Yajuvendra Chahal is the leading spinner.
The reaction of the users on Twitter was as follows-
Team India go ahead, have liked the team selection today.
Shikhar Dhawan has done a good team selection. Good to see Sanju Samson and Umran Malik in the squad.
Cheers for Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh. Congratulations to both of them on their ODI debut.
Thank you Shikhar Dhawan for giving Sanju Samson a chance.
‘Finally Sanju Samson and Umran Malik have found a place in Shikhar Dhawan’s team.’ Thank god Sanju is playing at least in ODI format. BCCI please give him a long chance and decide after playing at least 10 matches. Sanju you are a great player and all the best.
Some users are still not happy with the team selection
So the same few users are still not happy with the selection of the team. Their reactions are as follows-
According to me, Deepak Chahar should have replaced Shardul Thakur. He has performed with the bat and in bowling he is on top skill.
Shikhar Dhawan is playing a bit too safe. Have gone with only five bowlers. Why not the sixth bowler, you should have at least fed Chahar instead of Shardul. Let’s say Sanju and Imran are playing, so it’s a pleasure.
In this short match, you have landed with only 5 bowlers, in which two are spinners. Seems like a wrong decision when you have part time batsmen like Sundar and Thakur then why do you need to have such a deep batting line up in ODIs when you have made the bowling weak. This decision of the team management is not good.
