India got the first gold medal in ISSF World Cup 2022, women’s team opened the account of medals

New Delhi. In the ISSF Shooting World Cup 2022 being played in Baku, Azerban, the Indian team on Tuesday opened the account of medals with the Gold Medal. India’s women’s shooting team defeated Denmark’s women’s team to win the gold medal in the final match of the 10m air rifle event. In the ISSF Women’s World Cup 2022 for India, the team of Elavenil Walvarin, Shreya Agarwal and Ramita Jindal defeated Denmark 17-5 to win the 10m air rifle gold medal.
This is India’s first medal in the Shooting World Cup being played in Baku, in which Elavenil Walvarin, representing India at the Tokyo Olympics, scored more than 10 points in all 11 series and played a key role in winning the team gold. This trio of Indian women’s team had earlier scored the highest number of points in the qualification stage 1.

The Indian women’s team had scored 944.4 points in the qualification stage 1, which was 0.2 points more than the South Korean team. On the other hand, the Indian men’s 10m air rifle team missed out on a medal tally. The Indian men’s team comprising Rudraksh Balasaheb Patil, Partha Makhija and Deaflympics champion Dhanush Srikanth lost 16-10 in the bronze medal match against Croatia and the second medal could not go to India’s account.
