Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that in 2009, only 17 per cent of people in India had bank accounts. At that time there were very few digital payments. Ambassador Sandhu said that in 2009 only 15 per cent people used digital payments and 4 per cent people had a unique ID document. He said that today around 80 per cent people in India have bank accounts and per cent use digital payments. Sandhu further said that in today’s time, 99 percent of the people in the country have a unique ID. He said that in today’s time all this is happening in a country with a population of 1.4 billion people.

India and America Relations
Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Sunday emphasized on 75 years of US-India relationship. He said that India-US relations are a two-way street. It is a very symbiotic relationship. Emphasizing on the youth power, he said that no other country has talent like India, as 50 percent of the country’s population is youth below the age of 25 years, who are getting skilled at a fast pace.

US President Joe Biden turned 80 on 20 November. On this, Ambassador Sandhu congratulated him on his birthday and said that in the last few decades, he has moved forward strongly in all fields. During this, Sandhu cited the example of strategic partnership between the two countries in the field of space technology, IT, healthcare etc., so that mutual cooperation can be enhanced by reinvigorating bilateral relations between the two countries. Today India has more mobile towers than America. Many American companies have large R&D centers in India.
