An order issued from the Union Home Ministry mentioned that Sujoy Lal Thaosen will hold the additional charge of Director General BSF till further orders. Pankaj Singh handed over the BSF baton to Sujoy Lal Thousen on Saturday afternoon after a farewell parade and service medals to BSF personnel.

Pankaj Singh’s appointment as DG in BSF made history last year as a son rose to the top BSF post like his father Prakash Singh. Prakash Singh, a retired IPS officer of 1959 batch, headed the BSF as DG from June 1993 to January 1994.

Thoussen was with the SPD, the prime minister’s security team, for nearly nine years.
