New Delhi, June 05: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday dissolved the review committee amid the ongoing textbook controversy. Not only this, he said that he is ready to amend the objectionable content. The decision to dissolve the textbook review committee has been criticized by former chief minister and opposition leader Siddaramaiah. This criticism was made by the former CM through a tweet.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai dissolved the textbook review committee on 4 June. It has also been said that the question of constitution of a new committee for textbook review does not arise. Let us tell you that the reason behind this controversy is that there is an allegation of including flawed material in the textbook about the 12th century social reformer Basavanna and insulting the poet Kuvempu. The saints had also written a letter to CM Bommai regarding this.
So right there, now CM Bommai issued a statement that the Textbook Review Committee was dissolved as its assigned task was completed. He said that if there is any objectionable material, then the government is ready for further amendment. Criticizing CM Bommai’s decision, Congress leader Siddaramaiah said, “It is the revised textbook which needs to be withdrawn and not the committee which has already completed its agenda.” If the prejudiced Speaker is removed, how can we accept the textbook revised by his committee?’
