Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel holy dip in Kartik Poornima: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken a holy bath in Kharun river at Mahadev Ghat in Raipur on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. Its pictures have also been shared by CM Bhupesh Baghel on his Twitter handle. Sharing pictures while taking a dip in Kharun river, CM Bhupesh Baghel wrote, “Today, on the occasion of Kartik Punni, reaching Mahadev Ghat, Raipur in the morning, after taking Kartik Purnima bath in Kharun river, wished happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. Greetings and best wishes to all the people of the state on the occasion of Kartik Punni Mela.

In another tweet, CM Bhupesh Baghel wrote, “After taking a bath in the morning on the occasion of Kartik Punni, worshiped Mahadev at the historic Hatkeshwar Mahadev temple located on the banks of the river and prayed for the development of the state. Everywhere Shiva!”

Speaking to news agency ANI, Bhupesh Baghel wrote, “Today, on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, worshiped by taking a dip. Happy Kartik Purnima to all the devotees who come here in thousands.

According to the Hindu calendar, Kartik month will end today. This month is considered to be the holiest month among all the lunar months. Kartik is the eighth lunar month according to the Hindu calendar and the full moon of this month is known as Kartik Purnima. This year Kartik Purnima is being celebrated today on 8th November, Tuesday. In different parts of the country, the full moon day is known by different names in the Hindu calendar such as Poornima, Poonam, Poornimi and Poornimasi. In Vaishnava tradition, Kartik month is known as Damodar month. Damodar is the name of Lord Krishna.

Bathing in the Ganges and other holy rivers or at home is done every day before sunrise during the month of Kartik. The ritual of holy dip during the month of Kartik begins on the day of Sharad Purnima and ends on Kartik Purnima.
