Kashmir: Big success for security forces in Anantnag, Hizbul commander killed in encounter

Srinagar, May 04: Security forces have got a big success in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. In the ongoing encounter in Anantnag since Friday evening, security forces killed top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Nisar Khandey late night. Three soldiers and civilians were also injured during the encounter with the terrorists. The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the slain terrorist.

Police said that on the information of the presence of terrorists in Gawas village in Verinag area, a cordon and search operation was launched. During this, the terrorists started firing seeing themselves surrounded. The encounter started with retaliation. Three jawans and local civilian Ghulam Mohiuddin Malik were injured in this. The security forces retaliated and killed one terrorist.

The tanki has been identified as Nisar Khande of Hizbul Mujahideen. A lot of ammunition including AK 47 rifle was recovered from him. Kashmir Zone Police has tweeted that Hizbul Commander Nisar Khande has been killed. An official said that the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injured were immediately rushed to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for treatment and their condition is said to be stable.

Earlier on Friday night, terrorists had carried out a grenade attack in Shopian district. In which two migrant laborers were injured. A police spokesman said that terrorists hurled a grenade in Aglar Jainapura, due to which two non-local residents sustained minor injuries. The area has been cordoned off. Significantly, there has been an increase in the cases of target killings in the Kashmir Valley. The Home Ministry is also worried about this.
