Lt Gen Anil Chauhan became the new CDS of the country



New Delhi, 28 September:
The Central Government appointed Lt Gen Anil Chauhan (Retd) as CDS-Chief of Defense Staff. The post was vacant after the death of Vipin Rawat. Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, retired in May this year after an illustrious career spanning 40 years.

This post was lying vacant for the last 10 months after the death of the country’s first CDS Bipin Rawat in a chopper accident. After which today the central government appointed Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan as the second CDS of the country. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan held several command, staff and important positions. He has vast experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and North-East India.
