Delhi Government and Lieutenant Governor V.K. The confrontation between Saxena continued on Saturday as well. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused the Lt Governor of leveling “false allegations” against the education department and making a “mockery” of teachers working in the national capital.

In a letter to Saxena, Sisodia said the Lt Governor’s letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday was written with political motives and his “false allegations” against the education department were an “insult” to Delhi’s students and teachers. .

Sisodia, who is holding the charge of the education department, said, “The lieutenant governor wrote the letter with a political motive and said that no work has been done in the education department of Delhi.” His allegations are an insult to the students and teachers of Delhi. I request the Lt Governor not to make fun of the work of our teachers who have done excellent work in the department.

In a letter written to Kejriwal on Friday, Saxena tried to corner the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government in the national capital by raising several issues related to Delhi’s education department.

Citing statistics, he said that the average attendance in government schools was 70.73 per cent in 2012-2013, which continued to decline year after year and reached 60.65 per cent in 2019-2020. He also questioned the AAP government’s claims on students moving from private schools to government schools.

Responding to the allegations, Sisodia said that 99.6 per cent students of Delhi government-run schools have passed and a large number of students in these schools have got good marks.

He said, “It does not suit the person sitting on the chair of the Lieutenant Governor to write a letter citing wrong figures.”

The deputy chief minister accused the lieutenant governor that the data provided by him was false and that he had “maligned” the entire education system of the national capital with his statement.

In a letter to Saxena, Sisodia said, “The Lieutenant Governor has alleged that the number of students in government schools in Delhi has come down from 16 lakh to 15 lakh, while the fact is that the number of students has increased to 18 lakh.” . Our education department has also changed the infrastructure of the schools. The ‘tent schools’ have now turned into ‘talent schools’.

The deputy chief minister said the AAP-led government has done all necessary work in the education department in the last seven years despite “obstacles created by the Center and various lieutenant governors”.

In a letter to Saxena, he said, “I would like to request you to cooperate with the Delhi government instead of obstructing it for the future of the children of Delhi. The constitution has given you the responsibility of maintaining law and order in Delhi. You should let us do our work and utilize our time to improve law and order in the city.

At the same time, Kejriwal said on social media that teachers, students and their parents of Delhi have together worked hard in the last seven years to improve the education system of the national capital.

The Chief Minister said, “Instead of insulting the education system, the Lt Governor should encourage them.”

AAP’s national spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj, referring to the letter written by the Lieutenant Governor to the Chief Minister, said Saxena’s statement was “outrageous”.

He said, “The statement of the Lieutenant Governor is derogatory. He has uttered lies in his letter. The Lieutenant Governor has said that after AAP came to power, the number of students in schools run by the Delhi government has decreased, but the fact is that this number was 14.66 lakh in 2015 and has increased to 18 lakh in 2022. ”

Bhardwaj claimed that poor children are also excelling in studies after studying in Delhi government schools.

He said, “The children of the poor in Delhi have also been toppers in studies. The Lieutenant Governor is defaming the work of our government. When students go for job interviews, they proudly say that they have studied in government schools in Delhi.

Accusing the Lt Governor of acting at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), senior AAP leader Atishi said Saxena was “acting like the spokespersons of the BJP” who appear in news channel debates on television. take part and tell “lies”.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh hit out at the Lt Governor for instead of verifying the employment of ‘guest teachers’, calling them ‘ghost teachers’.

At the same time, senior party leader Dilip Pandey said, “Lt Governor Saxena has claimed to allot 13 plots to the Delhi government to build new schools.” The fact is that the Lieutenant Governor has not given the possession of four out of 13 plots to the Delhi government.

He said, “The land mafia was in possession of two plots. With the help of local MLAs and education department officials, these plots were vacated and schools are now being built there.”
